Pizza Monarchies

The most important thing going on in Shippensburg right now for me is knowing which pizza shop is the king of this pizza monarchy. The two candidates: Pizza N’ Stuff and Pizza Man, and as of this afternoon we have a CLEAR winner.

For extra credit in our World History class we had to go visit a grave site in town of the first person who died in World War I from Shippensburg. It sucked. How awkward. Fortunately, the only pizza place left in town left to try, Pizza Man, was conveniently located right next to the graveyard. I actually didn’t realize how close to campus it actually was. My roommate, Matthew, and I were down to spend our last $5 there.

The building is in an odd sort of place behind all of these abandoned warehouses and it sits by itself in an old parking lot filled with weeds and pieces of broken cement. Not really sure how anybody knows it’s there actually. Anyways, we went inside along with our neighbor Tyler who refused to eat any of the pizza (what a dick, right?) we only wanted slices as opposed to a whole pie so Matt ordered a slice of cheese, while I wanted to try a pepperoni. It started off well, the pizza bent in half with a perfect break right at the top under the crust. The pizza was stiff, I like that. I did notice the lack of sauce early on, and it was present in the first bite. Matt summed it up “There could be a little more sauce, god damn it” slamming his pizza back on to his plate. All though at first I didn’t seem to mind, I decided I didn’t like the cheese they used and it was over powering. The cheese tasted like they just ran down to the Wal-Mart and bought packs of American cheese for the pizza. The dough had an odd taste to it as well, but it was probably just slightly undercooked. The pepperonis weren’t all that crisp either, there was a noticeable lack of them. I got like three pepperonis. Wtf? Also, they gave me BUTTERMILK Ranch for my pizza. I hate buttermilk ranch, but I didn’t care at this point, because I knew Pizza N’ Stuff was/is the place for me. At least, I can rely on them giving me straight up regular ranch dressing there.

As of March 17th, 2010 I hereby crown Pizza N’ Stuff as the King of pizza in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Viva la Pizza N’ Stuff!
