tis the season

Will and I went to Season's Pizza last night. Its off 202 in DE. I wouldn't normally go to this place due to its location and its a chain. if im gonna get pizza, im not gettin it from a chain. does mac and mancos count as a chain?

you may recognize the logo from citizens bank park. because its the official pizza place for the park. thats cool i guess. back to why we decided to go to seasons when we normally wouldn't. its because i had 2 5$ gift cards. thats why. seasons is a restaurant. they do more then pizza. they do salads, pasta, sandwiches, other stuff, and Malibu drinks. since its more then a pizza place, the interior is kind of tacky.
ANYWAYS we ordered a medium pizza but then changed our minds and ordered a large. our waiter was really tall. he said, "alright, 1 large pizza for the beautiful lady and her date". i was drinking water. will was drinking water. the pizza came. looked good. its a bright pizza. dug in. greasy. thick. doughy. good sauce, not a lot of it though. greasy. the crust sort of makes a little wall at the end of the pizza. i remember Pat's pizza like this. the part that actually sticks up to make the wall is crunchy, while the underneath is soft. ya know what, i have not been to Pat's pizza since grade school. but after thinking about it, im gonna say that if you have been to Pat's, you've been to Seasons. minus the strands of hair you find in your pizza.

conclusion: Seasons is good if you have a gift card.

riddle me this:
if a pizza place is more then just a pizza place, it....(fill in the blank)

NOTE: for the record, in my book, pizza places are still just pizza places even if they do pasta and cheese steaks. maybe even salads. im thinking about enzos. once they start doing non-italian sandwiches, cheeseburgers, Malibu drinks, its more.

  1. I don't know where I draw the line. I think a pizza place is more than just a pizza place when you wouldn't even be able to tell it was a pizza place unless you saw pizza on the menu. I think Marone's is a good example. Great pie, cool place but if I were wandering around Ardmore looking for pizza it wouldn't be the first place I look because its pizza is hidden under the guise of a family restaurant. Seasons Pizza, if they shortened the name to just Season, then I would say it is no longer just a pizza place, but a restaurant with pizza.

  2. I always liked Season's pizza in high school. Whenever I was in Newark I would get it usually. Their broccoli bites are awesome. Their pizza isn't bad for chain pizza. Probably some of the best chain pizza I've ever had.

  3. PS. Enzo's is totally more than a pizza place. But I feel like the love is separate. Enzo's works cause when people want pizza, they get a huge pie fast and delicious, but when they want to go out with their family and enjoy a huge Italian meal with lots of leftovers they get that too. And to compete in today's market, you just have to serve burgers and other junk to survive.

  4. Yeah you can definitely tell when a new pizza place is dying to succeed because they will offer all sorts of stuff, even gyros. I like Seasons too, reminds me of Domino's which I have a soft spot in my tummy for.
